The Winter Sessions, local live music

The Winter Sessions is a long-running live music series held throughout the colder months in Shepparton, showcasing some of Victoria’s most talented emerging and established artists. Events will be at The Vault on the: 4 & 5 September. Each event features 2–3 live acts in a cosy, thoughtfully styled setting with professional sound production, comfortable seating and onsite food and bar facilities. The series champions original Australian contemporary music while supporting both emerging and established artists. Bar and food facilities are available on site.

Shepparton Running Festival

Archibald Prize at SAM

This touring exhibition from the Art Gallery of New South Wales is an opportunity to see the finalists in the Archibald Prize 2026 and experience the country's most prestigious portraiture prize in its exclusive Victorian showing at Shepparton Art Museum.

Join this iconic country market where each month we support local makers, artisans, musicians and farmers. The township of Avenel is located 90 min north of Melbourne, just off the Hume Freeway, and is situated at the foothills of the Strathbogie Ranges between Euroa and Seymour. Dogs allowed on leash. Goulburn Valley Explorer

Steam your way to the Goulburn Valley where you can visit Seymour, Murchison East or the picturesque lakeside town of Nagambie. Picking up at Southern Cross Station at 8:30 AM, travel in Steamrail's heritage carriages behind classic 1915 steam locomotive A2 986 (with assistance from a 1960s vintage diesel). The engine will perform a fast run direct to Seymour in the morning, reminiscent of the golden age of the Victorian Railways and famous express trains like Spirit of Progress and Albury Express. After the train departs Melbourne, settle into your compartment and listen to the engine work hard as you climb the famous Glenroy Bank, through the northern suburbs and into regional Victoria. After passing through the volcanic plains surrounding Wallan, the train will climb to the summit of the Great Dividing Range at Heathcote Junction and pass through the familiar bushland of the North-East. Arriving at the lakeside town of Nagambie at 11:50 AM or Murchison East at 12:20 PM, you will have time to visit the Murchison East Railway Hotel or explore Nagambie at your leisure. After a pleasant lunch, the train will depart Murchison East at 3:10 PM and pick up at Nagambie at 3:35 PM. With a brief stop at Seymour at 4:00 PM, the train will run express back to Melbourne, arriving at Southern Cross Station at 5:57 PM.

2026 KTM Australian Junior Motocross Championship

The countdown is on for the 2026 KTM Australian Junior Motocross Championship, set to take flight in Shepparton. More than 300 of the nation's most talented young racers will converge on Shepparton for six days of elite racing, showcasing the future of Australian motocross. The Greater Shepparton City Council, in partnership with the Goulburn Valley Junior Motorcycle Club will host AJMX.
The Baldy Archy at Violet Town

The 2026 Bald Archy Prize – Violet Town Get ready for art with a serious sense of humour! The Bald Archy Prize, Australia’s famously irreverent portrait award, is coming to Violet Town from 17 October to 15 November 2026. Celebrating satire, parody and caricature, the exhibition features comic portraits from established political cartoonists and enthusiastic artists alike. Gravelista 2026

With its diverse terrain and charming rural landscapes, Seymour offers an unforgettable gravel cycling experience. Whether you joining them to race for a UCI Age Category podium, or simply to roll with friends, they can't wait to welcome you to Seymour, Victoria.
Out in the Open Festival

Out in the Open is Goulburn Valley Pride's annual pride festival held in Greater Shepparton celebrating LGBTIQA+ pride and community diversity. The festival generally consists of a number of community led free or low-cost events, that aim to provide entertainment, connection, pride and celebration to the community within the City of Greater Shepparton and the surrounding areas. The annual main event, Carnival Day, is held on the Saturday of the festival and is described as a family-friendly, all ages, party in the park event, with local live music, market stalls, children's entertainment, local organisations and professional organisation stalls alongside local queer-owned small business, art and craft creation opportunities and plenty to eat, see and do all in one place. The festival was developed to address some of the inequalities faced by the local LGBTIQA+ community, and to build a more inclusive community in Greater Shepparton. As the largest project that Goulburn Valley Pride leads annually, it has its own committee of volunteers who create, curate and bring the festival to life each November. The festival is entirely volunteer led, created and ran. Volunteers are also a huge part of the success of our festival, as without them the festival wouldn't exist and continue to bring pride and diversity to the region.
