Join the Goulburn Region Tourism Board

Goulburn Region Tourism (GRT) is seeking nominations for two Industry Partner Board Member positions.

This is an opportunity to help shape the future of the visitor economy across the Goulburn Region and contribute your industry knowledge, experience and perspective to the strategic leadership of GRT.

About the role

GRT’s purpose is to drive the sustainable growth of the visitor economy throughout The Goulburn Region.

As an Industry Partner Board Member, you will contribute to the governance and strategic direction of GRT, working collaboratively with fellow Board Members and bringing a whole-of-region perspective to Board discussions and decisions.

Industry Partner Board Members are elected for a three-year term.

This is a non-remunerated position, with approximately 6 meetings a year.  Meetings are a combination of virtual and face to face.

Eligibility

To be eligible as an Industry Partner, an applicant must:

  • be a member of Goulburn Region Tourism Incorporated (GRT); and
  • be a tourism-related association, tourism business, business serving tourists, or other stakeholder aligned with the objectives of GRT

 

Skills and experience we are seeking

We’re looking for people who can bring industry experience, fresh thinking and a whole-of-region perspective to the table – people who understand the opportunities and challenges facing our visitor economy and want to play an active role in shaping its future.

Candidates should be able to demonstrate:

  • an understanding of good governance and the responsibilities of a Board Member;
  • strategic thinking and sound judgement;
  • an ability to contribute constructively as part of a diverse Board;
  • strong connections with, and understanding of, the visitor economy;
  • an ability to consider opportunities and issues from a whole-of-Goulburn-Region perspective; and
  • a commitment to acting in the best interests of GRT and the region’s visitors and visitor economy stakeholders.


To complement the existing experience and capabilities of the GRT Board, the following wing qualifications, skills or experience would be favourably considered:

  • legal
  • information technology (including cyber and AI risks and opportunities)
  • climate change mitigation and adaptation
  • environmental sustainability

 

Nomination and selection process

Nominations will be considered by GRT’s Skills and Nominations Committee as part of a structured selection process.

The selection process will be:

  • Nominations open – 24 August 2026
  • Nominations close – 7 September 2026
  • Shortlisted candidate interviews – anticipated 17 September 2026
  • Skills and Nominations Committee recommendation to the GRT Board – 23 September 2026
  • Election of Industry Partner Board Members – GRT Annual General Meeting, 18 November 2026


In accordance with the GRT Rules, Industry Partner Board Members are elected by GRT members at a General Meeting. If the number of nominees is equal to or fewer than the number of vacant positions, the nominees will be declared elected. If there are more nominees than vacancies, a secret ballot will be held.

To nominate, please submit:

  • a current CV;
  • a brief statement outlining your interest in joining the GRT Board and the contribution you believe you can make; and
  • information relevant to the skills / selection criteria.

Nominations must be received by COB on Monday 7 September 2026.
